Virgin Islands Boat Rental Fee For Red Beard or Black Beard
A private charter for up to 6 people is $599 plus Fuel, Captain’s Fee, and BVI Customs Fees. Additional passengers are $50 each. The Boat rental fee will be charged on the day of your rental to the card you used for the deposit, unless other arrangements are made in advance.
How Many People?
The maximum number of passengers we can carry on a single boat is up to 12 (depending on the boat you choose–some boats carry less than 12), but we can put together your own “flotilla” of 2 or more boats for the same trip.
Captain’s Fee and Gratuities:
The captain’s fee is $150 for the day, payable directly to the captain, in cash, on the day of the trip. Tipping of the Captain for outstanding service is greatly appreciated. A common tip for great service is 15%-20% of your total boat rental ($120-$200).
BVI Customs Fees:
When going to the BVIs, we must clear customs going into the BVIs, and then again at St. John, coming back. This usually takes about 20 minutes at each stop. The captain will help you with the paperwork and will walk it through customs. EVERYONE, NO MATTER THE AGE, WILL NEED A VALID PASSPORT, AND (as of 8/1/2013) $35 CASH FOR THE CUSTOMS AGENT. When you return to the U.S.A., there is a RETURN customs fee of about $6.00 a person, but it can vary. In addition, the British Virgin Islands charge a Public Parks fee of $6 per person if we use the mooring balls at the Baths or snorkel at The Caves and/or Indians.
We leave the dock for your trip with a full tank of fuel. At the end of the trip, you will be responsible for filling it up again. Fuel in the islands is more expensive in the states, and the price per gallon can fluctuate day to day. The amount of gas you will use on your trip varies greatly with the amount of people on the boat, weather conditions, cost of fuel on the day of your trip, etc. As a guide, the gas expense on an average trip around the USVIs could be $200-$250. A trip that includes The Baths could be an additional $50-$100 in fuel, and more if you’re fighting rough waters. Again, these are just estimates–your costs may vary. Payment must be made directly to the fuel dock at the time the boat is refueled. You may pay this portion in cash or by credit card.
